The Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital (RACH) diagnose, treat and follow up patients for cancer care until the age of 16 years. Various diagnostic procedures such as MRI, CT, PET scan and biopsies are carried out on site. Systemic anti-cancer therapy including intensive chemotherapy and immunotherapies are administered in the children’s hospital. Treatments are led by our four consultants and administered by specialist nursing staff, alongside a wide range of AHPs and input from other specialist teams and surgeons. Home care is delivered by our dedicated outreach nursing team when children and young adults are deemed fit to be at home. Please see here for the oncology/haematology page on the RACH website.
Patients over the age of 16years are cared for in the adjoining Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with support from our Teenage Cancer Trust Clinical Nurse Specialist for Teenagers and Young Adults with Cancer.
Patients requiring stem cells, radiotherapy and specialised surgeries will have this treatment provided in NHS Glasgow.
